Is something better than nothing? The answer is yes, if you're an optimistic Rockies fan after the signing of former Rockie, Manny Corpas. The 30-year-old from Panama was picked up with the hopes he could return to his 2007 form. The signing Rockies fans are looking for is a starter pitcher.
Corpas racked up 19 saves in 07 after taking over for Brian Fuentes. Corpas missed the 2011 season due to elbow surgery and returned to pitch for the Chicago Cubs last year. He was dreadful, going 0-2 with a 5.01 ERA in 48 games.
Troy Renck of the Denver Post reported the Rockies will want to use Corpas as a multiple-inning reliever, also called a hybrid.
Corpas came into the league with the Rockies and has continued to live in the Rocky Mountains so he should feel more comfortable this year but who knows what he can bring to the table.
For his career, Corpas has put up a 12-18 record with a 4.09 ERA.
